Jordan Thomas, TE

Jordan Thomas is an absolute behemoth. The former Mississippi State wide receiver now stands at 6’5″ and weighs in at 280 lbs. But, don’t let the size fool you, he still ran in the 4.6s at the combine.

He didn’t have a ton of production at Mississippi State. He only caught 22 passes for 263 yards and three touchdowns. However, the Houston Texans saw enough in his athleticism and potential to warrant a 6th round draft pick.

So far, Thomas has caught the eye of the Houston Texans coaching staff and media alike. So much so that Bill O’Brien actually, kind of, sort of, maybe gave a compliment to the rookie.

Must Read. Texans should target Brett Hundley if released by Packers. light

"“He’s really, the first few days here, he’s actually done a decent job blocking relative to being a young player – better than I thought he would do. I think if he can keep improving in that area, he’s good in the passing game, I really like what we’ve got there.” O’Brien said to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle."

If he can use his frame to his advantage in blocking and in the receiving game, this kid could turn into a star. He has the speed to run by linebackers and he has the size to pluck balls out of the air over safeties. He really is a matchup nightmare. He also has the size to hold up well on the edge.

He kind of reminds me of Julius Thomas when he was the Denver Broncos. That’s the type of potential this kid has if he can continue to develop. Currently, he is tied with Jordan Akins for second on the depth chart behind Ryan Griffin.
