1. You Will Have Cap Flexibility
Heading into 2016, the Texans are already expected to have an estimated $26.2 million in cap room when you factor in their free agents and nearly $16 million in dead cap space being off the books.
Throw in the certain cap casualties of Arian Foster, Garrett Graham, Akeem Dent and their cap space increases to $38.5 million.
If their production stays the same, cutting Vince Wilfork and Rahim Moore to save another $6+ million would have to be considered.
Two more long shots, but potential savings are Brian Hoyer ($5.25 million) and Cecil Shorts ($3 million).
All of this flexibility positions the team to be aggressive in free agency. It would also allow them to lock up DeAndre Hopkins and Brandon Brooks.
