The 2025 NFL draft is almost here, and Houston Texans fans are excited to see which up-and-coming prospects will be added to head coach DeMeco Ryans' lineup. The draft has been a source of many Texans fan favorites recently, ranging from quarterback C.J. Stroud to cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. and everyone in between.

The Texans' recent draft success is undeniable, and there's plenty of room for more talent to be injected in the coming weeks. General manager Nick Caserio will be head into the draft with seven picks at his disposal, giving Houston plenty of resources to keep the roster strong enough to keep for another AFC South title (and more) in 2025.

In the meantime, here's a look at the complete list of 2025 Texans draft picks and how the team ended up with each upcoming selection.

What Happened to the Texans' Original Draft Picks?

With two weeks to go before the 2025 draft, the Texans currently hold four of their original draft picks: No. 25, No. 58, No. 89, and No. 241.

The team's fourth-round pick (No. 128) was recently traded alongside tackle Laremy Tunsil to the Washington Commanders in a deal that saw four draft selections sent back to the Texans. It was a necessary move as Houston continues to reshape its offensive line to provide Stroud with the best possible protection.

Meanwhile, the Texans' fifth-rounder (No. 161) was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles last offseason. GM Casero packaged that pick with last year's 127th overall selection to acquire Pick No. 123 from the Eagles, which they used to add tight end Cade Stover, who tallied 15 catches for 133 receiving yards and a touchdown as a rookie.

As for the Round 6 pick (No. 202), the Texans traded it to acquire offensive lineman Kendrick Green from the Pittsburgh Steelers back in August 2023. The pick has since been flipped around a few times and currently resides with the Los Angeles Rams, whereas Green signed with the Buffalo Bills this offseason after two campaigns in Houston.

How Did The Texans Acquire Their Additional Draft Picks?

In addition to their own picks, the Texans have also acquired a trio of draft selections from other teams via trade.

For starters, the 79th overall pick was acquired from the aforementioned Tunsil trade. The Commanders had originally acquired it after trading WR Jahan Dotson to the Philadelphia Eagles, who had previously gained it from the Dolphins during the 2024 NFL draft. The Broncos' seventh-rounder (No. 241) was also picked up in the Tunsil swap.

The No. 166 pick was a part of the trade package that saw the Texans acquire wideout Stefon Diggs from the Buffalo Bills just over a year ago. The former All-Pro playmaker tore his Achilles after racking up 496 yards and three TDs on 47 catches across eight games with Houston and has since signed a $69 million contract with the New England Patriots this offseason.

Texans Draft Needs 2025

The Texans have won back-to-back AFC South titles, however, there's always room for improvement.

Upgrading the offensive line is one of the Texans' top draft needs after moving on from Tunsil and Kenyon Green this offseason. Even though the likes of Cam Robinson and Laken Tomlinson have since been added, it wouldn't be surprising if Houston also added younger blockers through the draft, such as Texas' Cameron Williams or Boston College's Ozzy Trapilo on Day 2.

It wouldn't be unfathomable if the Texans want to upgrade the wide receiver room, too. With Diggs gone and Tank Dell likely missing the majority of 2025, Houston could have its eyes set on Longhorns WR duo Matthew Golden and Isaiah Bond, who could both be off the board before the second round is even over.

The Texans' defensive line isn't as young as it once was, making that another area of need this month. Physical specimens like Michigan's Kenneth Grant and South Carolina's D.J. Sanders could be a duo on Houston's radar. GM Caserio could also target yet another Texas prospect in DT Alfred Collins, who'd remain a local fan favorite after five seasons with the Longhorns.

According to the NFL Mock Draft Database, the Texans are most likely to leave Round 1 with Ohio State OT Josh Simmons. The Buckeyes blocker is coming off a third-team All-Big Ten performance that culminated in a CFP National Championship victory, leaving time to tell if similar success will follow him to the NFL.

Round 1 of the 2025 NFL draft will begin on Thursday, Apr. 24, live from Lambeau Field in Green Bay, WI.
