Houston Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans' staff has seen several additions this offseason, including the arrival of offensive coordinator Nick Caley. Not only are Texans fans excited to see what Caley can do, but even the team's players have made it clear they have nothing but love for the two-time Super Bowl-winning coach.
It'll be interesting to see how the Texans' offensive playmakers benefit from Caley's presence. In the meantime, the 42-year-old's arrival has already had a positive impact on a certain Houston coach's career.
Texans Promoted Cole Popovich to OL Coach, Run Game Coordinator
NFL insider Ian Rapoport is reporting that the Texans are promoting Cole Popovich as their new offensive line coach and run game coordinator. The Monterey Park, CA native had been with the organization as an assistant OL coach since 2023 and now has a well-deserved opportunity to prove his worth.
The #Texans have promoted Cole Popovich to offensive line coach and run game coordinator, sources say. He'll work closely with new OC Nick Caley.

Previously, Popovich was the assistant OL coach, but Houston always held him in high regard.
It's safe to say that Popovich has a tall task ahead of him. The Texans' blockers were among the NFL's most inconsistent units in 2024, ranking 21st in pass protection and 25th in run blocking, according to Pro Football Focus.
Popovich brings a mixture of collegiate and professional NFL coaching experience to the table. He began his career coaching with four college football programs from 2011 to 2015 before the New England Patriots hired him as an assistant in 2016. He worked his way up the ranks throughout his time with the Patriots, eventually being named co-OL coach ahead of the 2020 campaign.
Popovich spent 2021 as an OL coach at Franklin High School in Massachusetts before taking on the same role at Troy University for the 2022 season.
After accumulating all that experience, his joining the Texans isn't much of a surprise. Caley is more than familiar with Popovich after the duo worked alongside each other for five years in New England — a stretch where Houston general manager Nick Caserio served as the Patriots director of player personnel.
The Pats won a pair of Super Bowls during the trio's time together, leaving Texans fans hoping that similar success will find its way to the Bayou City.
Speaking of a potential championship run next season, the Texans currently hold the 10th-best Super Bowl 60 odds (+2400) on FanDuel Sportsbook as the offseason continues.
