This Has The Makings of an Awkward Family Meeting

You might have a point there. But, the funny thing is that these two have been accustomed to it because Cole was a National League pitcher before coming here.

Cole vs. Crawford

Throughout their careers, Crawford and Cole have met each other 18 times with Crawford going 4-for-14. Since Amy Crawford became Amy Cole, Crawford is 2-for-6 against Cole with two strikeouts. So, it’s clear that Cole has the edge in the family feud. Tonight will be another chapter in the story of the two of them meeting on the diamond.

How will Gerrit’s wife and Brandon’s sister react to this you ask? Well, I think she wants both to do well. Let’s take a look at a few matchups in the past just to see the impact these two men have on Amy.

Cole StrikeoutCrawford RBI Single

As you can see, she is showing no favoritism to her husband, nor to her bother. So, we shouldn’t be surprised that no matter if Crawford gets a hit or strikes out against Cole, that she’ll show excitement. Although the cool thing would be to have Julia Morales interview her while the in-laws duke it out.

But, the interesting thing about this is that both Cole and Crawford seem to agree that Amy will cheer for anything positive from either of them as long as it doesn’t have an direct impact on the game. Here’s a clip of Cole talking about his wife, who was then his fiance, on her cheering methods.

So maybe Cole striking out Crawford in a scoreless game will be just as good as Crawford homering off of Cole with the Giants down by three in the seventh inning.

Hmm! That’s hard to say.

Conclusion

But all in all, this will be an exciting matchup to see because for now, it will be a rare occurrence since Cole is now in the American League. Of course, if we want more of this, we’ll have to beg the Giants to trade Crawford to an AL West team. But knowing the Giants, that probably won’t happen.

Still, this series with the Giants should be a fun series all the way around. We’ve gotten a few series wins recently. Let’s see if we can sweep the Giants with Cole and Verlander.
