Four Reasons Why James Harden Was Robbed Of The MVP Award

facebooktwitterreddit

Stephen Curry was announced as MVP which is not surprising but it is WRONG. James Harden was the clear MVP this season and here are four reasons why…

Number 4:

Over the years the term MVP has been completely changed. Now people are saying that the MVP is the best player on the best team, but this is complete nonsense. The MVP is the most valuable player and the Most Valuable Player this year was James Harden.

Just think about it, if James Harden left the Rockets who would we have? Trevor Ariza, Patrick Beverley, Donatas Motiejunas, Terrence Jones, Joey Dorsey? (I’m not including Dwight Howard because the MVP is based on the regular season and Dwight was out half the season.) If a non-Houston fan could even name all those people I would be impressed. Do you expect that team to make the 2nd seed or let alone the playoffs in the Wild West?

James Harden carried this weak team all the way to second seed and on top of that, the starters had only started two games together. If you take away Stephen Curry you still have Klay, Draymond, Bogut, and Iguodala. This year Klay Thompson broke the record for most points in a quarter, scoring 37 points, but the Rockets however don’t have a player other than James Harden that scored 37 points in a game.

Number 3:

James Harden’s stats are much better, however all the Warriors fans will say that it is because he hasn’t played in many quarters. Well, that’s exactly what I meant in point #4. How can you win MVP if you’re team is so stacked that they don’t even need you?!?

Number 2:

Better highlights does not mean better player. People say that James Harden is boring to watch, which is not even true but people have a misconception that he is draws too many fouls. Just because Stephen Curry has a longer highlight reel that doesn’t mean that he is a better player or does more for his team.

More from Houston Rockets

Injuries have played a big part in the Rockets season. As stated before the Rockets starters have only started two games together during the regular season. The first two. When you have such a thin team, and on top of that injuries to key players, you would expect the team not to make the playoffs. However, that didn’t stop James Harden and the Rockets who finished with the second seed because Harden willed them and carried them on their back this whole season.  If that isn’t the MVP then I don’t know what it is.

In the end, what’s done is done. Curry had a great season but at the very least it should have been Co-MVP’s. James Harden got robbed this year, but he is still young and has a bright future and I’m sure he will win MVP in many years to come.
