NBA Trade Deadline: Houston Rockets Updated Rumors Page

facebooktwitterreddit

The NBA Trade Deadline is on Thursday at 2:00 PM CT but there are sure to be plenty of rumors from now until then.

More from Houston Rockets

This page will be our official page where we will update on the rumors as they come in, so please make sure to check back every once in a while to see the latest. This will likely be a hotbed for all Goran Dragic rumors but if there’s a new rumor out there it will be posted here as well as potentially given its own post depending on the magnitude of the rumor.

For now, here’s all the latest with the newest rumors first with my commentary in italicsClick here for all the latest Houston Rockets stories on House Of Houston.

In regards to T-Wolves SG Kevin Martin:

Oh, hey, you again. He’d be a solid option as a scoring guard off the bench but he’s owed close to $15 million over the next two seasons (not including this one).

2:47 PM

Feigen, in his article posted a bit after the tweet, had a few more interesting tidbits from earlier today:

"If there were any remaining doubts that Goran Dragic’s days in Phoenix were about to end, they might have ended on Wednesday when he told the Phoenix media that he no longer trusts the Suns’ front office.Getting him back to Houston, however, remained a long shot at best."

Feigen’s current expectations:

"The Rockets, however, are not at all close to any deal so far, a person with familiarity with talks said, adding that this season’s trade deadline talks are at this point shaping up very much like last season when the Rockets came away with only a minor move, dealing Aaron Brooks to Denver for Jordan Hamilton."

Update: Here’s our article on the rumor.

I don’t really now if I could trust Broussard or not. Jackson would still be an interesting fit, though I can’t imagine he’s plan A (or B or C). Brian K. Patterson wrote about Jackson and the Rockets a few weeks ago.

12:40 PM

This obviously makes the most sense from the Suns’ standpoint. All three teams have much greater assets than that of the Lakers, Heat, and Knicks, three teams on Dragic’s destination list.

7:48 AM

Rockets appear to not care about having no assurances Dragic would re-sign in Houston. They’ll try and convince once they trade for him. That fifth year is a great starting point.

1:54 AM

Dragic didn’t put the Rockets on his “destination list” and some people theorize it’s because he didn’t like the Rockets choosing Jeremy Lin over him. Could they convince him to sign an extension and give him a starting job opposite James Harden?

1:45 AM

Another piece to the Dragic-to-the-Rockets puzzle is what to do with Patrick Beverley. Ken Berger (CBS Sports) thinks Beverley could be included in a trade for Dragic. I’m not sure I could see that happening as Beverley would have less playing time in Phoenix than in Houston, thus giving Beverley less value when he hits the market next offseason. It seems like Beverley would lose close to 10 minutes a game, if not more if the Rockets acquired Dragic. Would the agent for Dragic and Beverley want that?!?

12:01 AM

Jonathan Feigen (Houston Chronicle) writes about Dragic and the Rockets:

"Dragic might now clearly be on the market, with the Suns’ playoff position tenuous at best and their best trade asset eager to become a free agent. But the Rockets are less likely to offer the sort of package it would take to get him, considering they are not among his preferred teams. The Rockets were seeking a deal to reacquire Dragic not only to boost their postseason chances but to get the Bird rights that would greatly improve their position to sign his as a free agent after the season. But with Dragic listing the Knicks, Lakers and Heat among teams he would target, the Rockets would be considerably more reluctant to gamble on him."

On Rockets targets:

"With Thursday’s 2 p.m. trade deadline approaching, the Rockets are seeking a “high-level” player, rather than a rotation tweak.“Everyone knows they’re open for business,” one individual with knowledge of talks said. But Morey is going to be pickier than in past seasons because the Rockets have already made two significant moves, trading for Corey Brewer and signing Josh Smith.Given the Rockets’ happiness with their second unit in recent weeks and the belief Howard will return to solidify the rotation, cautiousness about summer cap room eliminates their acquiring many smaller-move names who might be available. As one individual familiar with their thinking said, if the Rockets are to spend future cap room, “it would have to be for someone that would actually play.”"

On centers:

"While the Rockets have been active in trade talks, they have not stepped up efforts specifically aiming to add a center since Howard went out with edema on his right knee."
