2014 was a year of of promise and rebuild for the city of Houston.

Yesterday, Brian K. Patterson took a look at the bottom five moments in Houston sports this past year. He unfortunately had a long list of possibilities to choose from, whereas I don’t have as many. Shame. Click here to view the list.

The Houston Astros were in the middle of a long rebuild but 2014 was expected to be the year we would see the rise and that’s exactly what we saw. Though their were a lot of down moments and plenty of embarrassing moments for the Astros front office, the on-the-field Stros made major strides towards fielding a competitive team.

After a .9 second miracle in Portland, the Rockets were looking to rebound in the offseason and reinforce themselves for their pursuit of an NBA title. With two new recent acquisitions, the Rockets appear ready to make another postseason run, hopefully longer than last year’s.

The Houston Texans were coming off a horrid season of epic proportions and needed to gut the staff to make a turnaround. 2-14 became 9-7 and the franchise appears to be on the rise thanks to a new Head Coach and the play of a certain defensive player.

The soccer scene…they’re on the rise to with the Dynamo and Dash both making big changes in the offseason. The guys at Orange In The Oven do an excellent job covering the whole Houston soccer team. Check them out by clicking here.

So what will 2015 bring to Houston? Hopefully some rings. But that’s a discussion for another time.

Now’s the time to reflect on the year that was in your favorite city, Houston!

Let’s go!
