The Houston Texans are set to report to training camp on July 22 and will begin preparing for the 2025 season. The division-rival Tennessee Titans are also slated to open things up on Tuesday, but they were hit with big injury news at the quarterback position.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Titans QB Will Levis is going to miss the 2025 season. He's going to undergo surgery on his right shoulder. Levis suffered this injury early last season and re-aggravated it later in the season. That injury is still bothering him, and he decided to get a procedure done to fix the problem.

That injury now creates QB2 opening in Tennessee behind rookie QB Cam Ward.

Titans QB Will Levis Is Done for the Year

Levis was drafted in the second round of the 2023 NFL draft and started in 21 games over the last two years for them. In those outings, he went 5-16 as a starter, completing 61% of his throws for 3,899 passing yards, 21 passing touchdowns and 16 interceptions.

He has never shown the ability to be a consistent player at this level and consistently found ways to make boneheaded mistakes. Against the Texans, Levis threw for 668 passing yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions.

Despite his shaky play, Levis was the clear-cut QB2 on the roster due to his traits, but now the Titans have a big hole behind their rookie.

Brandon Allen and Tim Boyle are the only other guys on the roster, yet neither player has been good in the NFL. In five years between the Broncos, Bengals, and 49ers, Allen was 2-8 as a starter, completing 56.7% of his throws for 1,810 passing yards, 11 passing touchdowns, and eight picks.

Boyle has been worse in his outings, going 0-5 as a starter with the Lions and Jets. He's 141-of-233 (60.5%) for 1,210 yards, five passing scores and 13 interceptions.

Neither player is a capable QB2, which only adds more pressure onto the plate for Ward. Being the No. 1 pick is one thing, but the NFL is a different beast. It'll be an interesting position to watch over the next few weeks.
