The offseason for the Houston Texans has seen a bunch of changes on the roster. They have used free agency and the trade market to add talent to the team.

With free agency slowing down, the next big chance teams will get to add difference-makers will be during the NFL Draft. With that less than a month away, teams are meeting with multiple prospects to get a closer at these players.

The Texans are meeting with Texas A&M Edge Nic Scourton, according to Nick Schwager.

The Texans don't have a glaring hole at EDGE. They just extended Danielle Hunter on a one-year, $35.6 deal through the 2026 season, with Will Anderson screaming off the other side.

Regardless, teams are always looking to bolster their trenches and Houston wanted to get a closer look at Scourton. He transferred to Texas A&M for the 2024 season after spending two seasons at Purdue.

Scourton is a physically imposing presence, standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 257 pounds. He is able to set the edge in the run game and uses his hustle to make an impact on the play. The Texas native has a nice pass-rush plan and has shown the ability to get into the backfield.

In 37 collegiate games, Scourton has compiled 109 total tackles, 31 TFLs, and 17 sacks. This past season, he finished with an 80.1 overall grade, an 80.6 pass-rush grade, and a 74.4 run-defense grade per PFF.

Effort is not something that comes into question in Scourton's play. Many draft experts project him to be a good starter early in his career. NFL.com's Lance Zierlein has Trey Hendrickson as his NFL comp.

Whether or not he'll develop into that caliber of a player remains to be seen but that shows the kind of ceiling Scourton has. The Texans own the No. 25 pick in the first round so they'll be in the range to select Scourton if they want.
