The Houston Texans decided to make sweeping changes on the offensive side of the ball this offseason. After the offense took a step back in C.J. Stroud's second season under Bobby Slowik, the front office responded by revamping key positions. Laremy Tunsil, Kenyon Green, and Kendrick Green on the offensive line were replaced by Cam Robinson, Trent Brown, and Laken Tomlinson.

The wide receiver room was similarly transformed. The Texans traded for talented receiver Christian Kirk from the Jaguars while signing Justin Watson and Braxton Berrios in free agency.

With Tank Dell likely missing the majority of the 2025 season, however, the Texans need one more elite playmaker to pair with Nico Collins.

Christian Kirk, who played over 80% of his snaps at the slot last season, should fit seamlessly into the same role in Houston. On the opposite side of Collins, however, the Texans need a reliable pass-catcher.

Tyler Lockett is Perfect FA Target for the Texans

That is why a free agent like Tyler Lockett makes a ton of sense for Houston.

The 32-year-old wideout was released by the Seahawks after ten seasons in Seattle. He may not be the same explosive athlete he was earlier in his career, but he is still very consistent, versatile, and dependable. Despite his age, he has never missed significant time due to injury throughout his career and finished last season with 49 catches, 600 yards, and two touchdowns in 17 games.

Lockett is not the 1,000+ yard WR1 he was five years ago, but when facing single coverage, he should still make an impact as a WR2/3. Plus, he is still a masterful route-runner who can play both outside or the slot, giving new offensive coordinator Nick Caley a valuable chess piece to work with.

The Texans did a ton of good things to improve the roster this offseason but signing another reliable WR would go a long way in giving confidence to the fanbase ahead of next season.
