The Houston Texans have been busy making changes to their 90-man roster over the past few weeks as they get ready for training camp next month.

In June alone, Houston has already signed veteran running back Nick Chubb to a one-year pact while also watching veteran cornerback Ronald Darby surprisingly announce his retirement

At this point in the NFL schedule, the 90-man roster is an ongoing process. Therefore, the Texans will continue to make minor changes throughout the next several weeks, while also former Houston players will sign with new teams or get cut.

One former Texans player who was cut not too long ago has found his next opportunity just in time for training camp next month.

Former Texans DE Kinsley Jonathan Signs With Jets After Minicamp

On Thursday, the New York Jets signed former Texans defensive end Kinsley Jonathan. The 6-foot-4, 260-pound defensive lineman was waived on May 21 by Houston after signing a futures/reserve contract in February.

Jonathan has some NFL experience under his belt as he’s played in 20 career games across three seasons.

Before signing a futures contract with the Texans earlier this year, Jonathan spent two-plus seasons with the Buffalo Bills on and off their practice squad. Last season, the 27-year-old defender appeared in one game.

However, in 2023, the 6-foot-4 defensive end had five combined tackles and two quarterback hits in 13 games. Jonathan began his career with the Bills in 2022 and then had a quick stint with the Chicago Bears.

The Bears proceeded to waive Jonathan during the 2022 season, leading him back to the Bills.

The former Texans defensive end never got a chance to suit up for the team, which happens sometimes with guys on future deals. That said, he’ll try to make a name for himself with the Jets this summer.
