The Houston Texans head into training camp on July 22nd and seek to start to quest for a deep postseason run. The Texans made a couple of moves this offseason, but at the same time, there are several former players still on the market looking for jobs.
The search to land an opportunity shrank for EDGE Jadeveon Clowney on Wednesday night. According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Washington Commanders are signing edge Von Miller.

Ex-Texan Jadeveon Clowney Misses Out on Commanders Job with Von Miller Signing
Miller is 36 years old and has two Super Bowls on his resume. He is looking to come in as a pass-rushing specialist and give Washington some championship experience in the second year under Jayden Daniels. He has 129.5 sacks and 256 QB hits in his career.
Just last season, he posted six sacks with the Buffalo Bills in 2024, showcasing he still has some juice in the tank.
While that's a good landing spot for Miller, that's just one less potential destination for Clowney, who's still on the free agent market. Back in March, he was let go by the Carolina Panthers and seems to be taking his time to find the right team.
The 32-year-old has still been an effective presence upfront as both a run defender and pass rusher. In 2024, with the Panthers, he had 46 total tackles, nine TFLs, 11 QB hits, and 5.5 sacks. According to PFF, he had a 70.8 overall grade (47th among 211 graded EDGE defenders) and a 73.2 pass rush grade (30th among 211 graded EDGE defenders).
Clowney has shown that he will wait until the right opportunity presents itself, but the longer he waits, the fewer teams will be there. Training camp will show a lot about position battles around the league. Injuries are naturally a part of the game, and maybe that's when Clowney will find his team for the 2025 season.
The Commanders could have been one of the best spots for Clowney, but they went in another veteran direction instead with Miller.
