Ranking draft needs for the Houston Texans typically goes as follows: offensive line, secondary, running back. I believe the offensive line need is obvious and a must-address thing this year. The secondary added enough in free agency to be choosy. Running back, however, is a spot I believe the team is still pretty good at.

More from House of Houston

Lamar Miller has had some up and down seasons as a member of the Texans and those ups and downs can be seen within games. He can be the most infuriating player on the field or he can be the most exciting, electric player on the field. He is also getting older.

The Texans also still have D’Onta Foreman, who the team draft in the third round of the 2017 draft. Foreman was really starting to flash in his rookie season before he ruptured his Achilles tendon. This derailed his sophomore campaign as well but is now nearly fully healthy already for 2019.

So, Houston already has a dynamic duo with some thunder and lightning at the running back position. However, there is one area where they can improve at running back. That would be adding a pass-catching back with a lot of agility in space.

James Williams is exactly that out of Washington State. He finished his career with 316 carries for 1,543 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns but he really shined as a receiver out of the backfield with 202 career receptions for 1,437 yards and eight touchdowns. He also led the NCAA with 33 missed tackles forced on receptions. He could be a major boon in the seventh round for the Houston Texans offense.
