Houston Rockets: Four things to establish in first month of season

The Houston Rockets kick off their season Wednesday night against the New Orleans Pelicans. Let’s take a look at four things to establish in the first month of the season.
Where has the offseason gone?! The Houston Rockets kick off their 2018-19 season tomorrow night against Anthony Davis and the rest of the New Orleans Pelicans squad. Fortunately, the Rockets are entering the season 100% healthy with what very well may be the deepest squad Houston has seen in a long time.
It’ll be great to watch James Harden, Chris Paul, and Clint Capela take the court together again for the first time since the middle of the Western Conference Finals. All three of these guys had phenomenal seasons last year. Paul and Capela parlayed their play into shiny new contracts and Harden parlayed his into a shiny, new MVP trophy.
After losing to the Warriors in the WCF, the Houston Rockets brass got busy working on figuring out how to improve on a team that set a franchise record for wins last year. They went out and adding several guys in the first few days of free agency while letting key players from the 2017-18 season walk.

Trades were also discussed all season on how to improve the team. The biggest priority there was ridding the team of Ryan Anderson’s contract, which was done successfully. But then there was also the desire to add a difference maker in wing defense, which has yet to fully be accomplished but deals are still being discussed.
To kick things off for this season, the team took a bonding trip to the Bahamas where the returning players could reconnect and the new guys could form connections and relationships while building team chemistry.
After that, training camp and preseason ball began. The team looked good all preseason while working on figuring out the depth, rotation, and roles of players. It’s been a busy few months but the Houston Rockets are ready to contend for a championship in the 2018-19 season. So, here are four things that need to be established in the first month of the season in order to accomplish that.
