0-2: Good or Bad!

Now one would think that being 0-2 is not favorable in terms of the chances to make the playoffs and of course, that would be correct. According to Oddshark.com, since 2007, there were 91 teams that started 0-2 before 2018. Of these teams, only 10.9% of them turned their season around the make the playoffs. The teams that turned their season around included…

2017 New Orleans Saints

2016 Miami Dolphins

2015 Seattle Seahawks

  • 2015 Houston Texans
  • 2014 Indianapolis Colts

    2013 Carolina Panthers

    2008 Minnesota Vikings

    2008 San Diego Chargers

    2007 New York Giants

light. Hot. Two things fans don't deserve to ever see again

What do you know? The Houston Texans pulled off the remarkable feat of overcoming a 0-2 start to make the playoffs. Granted, of course, the Texans had to use like 5-8 quarterbacks to get there. But still, they pulled it off.

Now, of course, the odds are not in the Texans favor. But that doesn’t mean it can’t be done. However, what’s also interesting about the website is how many teams started 2-0 and didn’t make the playoffs. Of the 91 cases of teams that started 2-0, 57.1% (52) make the playoffs while the other 35 plus teams didn’t even qualify. The Texans have been part of the 2-0 teams that didn’t make the playoffs before a few times.

So clearly, if anything we should take away from this is that two games don’t make the season. That’s like one-eighth of the season down. It’s still possible for the Texans to make up the seven-eighths and still make the playoffs. It won’t be easy because they have to figure out a few things with how to turn it around.
