Houston Texans: 3 things to watch against the 49ers in the second preseason game
2. Could we see more time for Deshaun Watson?
Last week, Watson saw the field for one drive and the drive he led stalled in Chiefs territory. However, on that drive, Watson went 1/1 completing a pass to Ryan Griffin for 4 yards.
I would love to see Watson out there for more than one drive Saturday night, I would let him run the offense for the entire 1st quarter. Then again, Billy O will most likely be cautious about how much he lets his young padawan play in meaningless preseason games.
When he is out there, it would be phenomenal to see him make a few more passes across the entire field. Seeing Will Fuller and DeAndre Hopkins catching passes from him in a game would be great to see again. Additionally, seeing Watson throwing passes in the pocket with poise and consistency like Aaron Rodgers would be outstanding.
He won’t play a ton but, ramping up his playing time and getting him used to live action will be a huge boon to the Houston Texans. Caution should still be exhibited but, the team needs to see what he’s like in more game action.
When I was at camp, he was making spot-on throws all over the place when the offensive line gave him a clean pocket to work in. Tonight, I hope to see the o-line give a clean pocket to Watson.
