Starters: PJ Tucker, Carmelo Anthony

These two guys are the clearcut starts at the forward positions for the Houston Rockets. Tucker will take on that lead defensive role that Trevor Ariza filled last year. He’ll likely be responsible for manning up on the other team’s defensive ace. He has the ability to cover all five spots on the floor.

Melo is going to provide excellent offense for the team if he can settle into more of a spot up shooter role. He can still play iso ball and take over an offense when James Harden and Chris Paul need a spell. Defensively, it remains to be seen exactly how Melo will fit. If Coach Bzdelik can motivate Melo like he has Harden, he could turn into a replacement level player which will be enough.

Reserves: Ryan Anderson, James Ennis III, Vincent Edwards, Danuel House

Anderson and Ennis will be the primary backups going into the season at the four. Though, Anderson will likely see a smaller amount of minutes and some of them will come backing up Capela. That is if he isn’t traded before the season starts. Ennis provides great 3-and-D off of the bench as well. He’ll be better than Luc Mbah a Moute was for the Houston Rockets

Edwards and House round out the forwards. House will make the roster off of the summer league squad with his 3-and-D potential and highlight dunks. Edwards could provide similar value. Though, both of them will also likely see time in the G-League for the Vipers.
