Thought #4:  Making a change for the better

It was clear that the Texans had given up on Smith when he had taken a leave of absence to care for his wife who has been diagnosed with cancer (prayers to him, his wife, and his family) and then signed a general manager — Brian Gaine — that could work more efficiently with Bill O’Brien.

Wow! The Texans have a GM and a coach that can actually communicate with each other!  I was

estastic!

Things started to look positive for the team. When free agency hit, Texans inked deals of solid cornerback Aaron Colvin along with offensive lineman Zach Fulton, Seantrel Henderson and Senio Kelemete. They had improved some weaknesses but they needed a splash that can send a lot of help our way.

That was when the Texans made the quick move of signing star safety Tyrann Mathieu.  The Honey Badger was injury-riddled at one point and I think he was released by the Arizona Cardinals because he refused to take a pay cut.   Now that he’s with the Texans, he’s now ready to stay consistent at one position and is willing to take a small amount of money to prove he is still worth gold in this league.

I don’t know about you but that’s the kind of guy I’d want to sign.

Continuing into the draft, though the Texans did not have a pick in the first or second round because of the whole madness at QB position, they still managed to get my platinum award of smartness as they managed to improve depth with the team by selecting underrated safety Justin Reid.  Along with solidifying many weaknesses  However, I think that there are going to be many competitions for a starting job in the secondary and the offensive line.

That is a lot better than where we were standing at the end of the 2017 NFL season.
