The Houston Texans have been marred by injuries this season and with the latest update, there is one to their star wide receiver in DeAndre Hopkins.

With all of the injuries the Houston Texans have sustained as of late to Deshaun Watson, J.J. Watt, Whitney Mercilus, Christian Covington and most recently D’Onta Foreman, you can add DeAndre Hopkins to the list of those battling injuries.

Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports that the injury is not considered serious enough to affect his status against the Baltimore Ravens Monday night and was on a stationary bike this Wednesday as he was, of course, limited in practice.

But will it slow his effectiveness out on the gridiron?  I’d have to say yes because part of his game is his speed and ability to work his way around his defensive assignments to catch the ball.  I’m not going to say the Houston Texans are downplaying the injury but you better believe the Ravens are going to give all they have to test that foot of his.  Either Brandon Carr and Jimmy Smith — who have been playing well as of late — will be at the ready to see if he can still be an offensive threat for the Houston Texans.

Hopkins had been on his way incredible season statistical-wise because of Watson’s innate ability to get him the ball.  Although he’s still the top target, he’s just not getting the yardage that he was getting with Watson.  After recording a season-high eight receptions for 224 yards against the Seattle Seahawks Oct. 29, Hopkins has only yielded one game in the triples which was when he hauled in seven balls for 111 yards against the Los Angeles Rams.

Although it’d be great to see Hopkins out there because I need something interesting to watch after all these injuries, the Houston Texans should proceed with caution with this injury.  Just like with Will Fuller, they need to bring them along slowly because as of right now, we’re not contending for anything and I’d rather have those guys healthy by the time the 2018 season starts.

The Houston Texans were off for the Thanksgiving holiday and released an injury report as if they had held one.  They listed Hopkins as limited as well as Will Fuller (ribs), Greg Mancz (shoulder) and Julie’n Davenport with a shoulder strain.

The other players that were listed as limited were as follows: Alfred Blue, Kevin Johnson, Chris Clark, Kareem Jackson and Jadeveon Clowney.

However, the Houston Texans do expect Dylan Cole, Blue and Johnson back for this Monday’s game.

Go Texans.
