The Houston Texans and stud wide reciever DeAndre Hopkins agree to a massive five-year, $81 million extension with $49 million guaranteed.

DeAndre Hopkins finally gets what he deserves. This extension tendered by the Houston Texans features the largest guaranteed for ANY WR in the NFL.

This is a fantastic move by the Texans, I had a thought one day that Rick Smith would let him walk in free agency. Now I don’t have to EVER worry about that. Plus, we locked up a target for Deshaun Watson going into the future.

I know, I know, Hopkins had a down year last year. But come on, most of that was on Brock Osweiler. Last year, Hopkins had 78 receptions for 954 yards and four touchdowns. We’ve seen what Hopkins can do when he has decent quarterback play.

In 2015, he was by far a top 5 WR in the NFL with Brian Hoyer under center. His stats that year were insane — he had 111 receptions and 1,521 yards with 11 TD’s.

I think DeAndre is due for a “bounce back” season, this guy has the talent to come close to Andre Johnson in my opinion. Savage is obviously better than Osweiler so we will see if Tom can use Nuk to the best of his abilities.

This move certainly indicates that the Houston Texans have faith that he is the leader of a unit that has been widely inconsistent outside of himself.  Now that he has this huge contract inked, it’s time for him to prove it out on the field that he’s worthy of the money that has just been doled out.

Can he do it? We’ll have to see about that.

I think Texans fans everywhere are pleased to have #10 locked up for five more years. You never know, he could capture a Super Bowl ring in those five years with Savage or Watson as his QB!

Go Texans!
