A happy moment from an ugly season

The Houston Rockets 2016 season was quite a disappointment to say the least. The team went from a number two seed with a Western Conference Finals appearance the previous year, to a dysfunctional eight seed that barely snuck into the playoffs.

In all honesty it would have been better for the franchise to have missed the playoffs and been in the lottery for an outside chance at a high draft pick with a lucky bounce of the ping-pong ball than get bounced in the first round and have one of the most telling camera shots of all-time showing how little the team had invested in continuing the season.

But if nothing else it gave us hope as Steph Curry was injured and at the time it seemed like maybe we could even it up without Curry coming back for game four. Instead the Golden State Warriors went on to win the next two games to close out the series.

But the moment itself was fun as the Rockets had just sloppily turned the ball over with a one point lead and 14 seconds on the clock with control of the game and the Warriors converted it into a one point lead for themselves on a fast break.

With no timeouts Harden confidently brought the ball upcourt, gave a little shove (though nothing that Michael Jordan wouldn’t have gotten called for either) and drained a step back 12 foot jumper to close the game out.

Let’s move from a shot with James Harden at the center of the focus, to a rally he wasn’t part of at all.
