What’s the bottom line?

You might be asking yourself what you just read. It may look like me trying to get you fans confused with these comments. But let’s be clear. This is the mindset that even the most passionate fans of every sports team would be going through. There are certain days of paranoia that can strike us at anytime. It’s not easy to simply put aside that paranoia and move on. However, all we really should do is not be negative about our teams through the good and bad. Save that job for the bandwagon fans.

The truth here is that we’re just like every other fan. People in the most elite of cities like New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Dallas do have those thoughts in mind.  The trouble is their used to it whereas we’ve started to develop that feeling because we have three teams in contention for champions. So to be fair, this should be used as a learning experience. How do we overcome that paranoia that strikes us anytime? Y’all have different options, but giving up and saying how bad we are should not be one of them. Y’all need to take a deep breath and simply remind yourselves that while sports are fun to have, we cannot use them as life or death scenarios. If we do, we’ve lost the plot of our daily routines.

There will always be negative fans and bandwagon fans who will jump on and off the team depending on how well they do. And while that is annoying as somebody talking when you try to get your point across, we can only control what we can control.

We have to accept that their will be doubters and there will be people who despise us just like every other sports town. Our days of winning titles will return and when that happens, we’ll be like Pedro Martinez asking “Who’s Your Daddy?”

So please don’t give up when things go wrong and just ride out the emotional roller coaster. I’m doing my best and I hope y’all will too. Who knows? When the roller coaster ends with us winning a championship, we might want to ride it again.

For now, though, I’ll end this thought with something funny that I’ m sure we would like to do to others when negativity becomes annoying.

Being Houston sports fans has led to a plethora of highs and lows but one thing’s for sure, there’s no doubt that we love our teams despite some of outcomes we’ve seen over time.
