June was a pretty difficult month for the Astros, who dealt with injuries to the pitching staff, which led to not-so-quality starts by those that were there. It ended on such a horrific note as the Yankees demolished us 13-4 in game one of the series. Going into July, the Astros needed to start on the right note. Yuli Gurriel homers in the fifth inning before the Yankees stormed their way back to lead 6-3.

It was meant to be Colin Frazier’s day as he had his first career hit and home run for the Yankees. But who says anything about ruining parties? The Astros had another dramatic comeback in their pocket. After a RBI groundout by Carlos Correa, Evan Gattis went deep to make it 6-5. With two on, two-out, and Aroldis Chapman pitching in a playoff-type athmosphere, Gurriel came up and delivered perhaps the biggest hit of the season.

It was Clutch City at that moment for the Astros as they had the lead. But just when it appeared that was the defining highlight, this game had a memorable finish. In the ninth, Ken Giles got the first two outs. But then, he gave up a single to Brett Gardner. However, what happened was either a bad turn on Gardner’s part or just simply a great defensive play by the Astros that haunted the Yankees again to end the game.

Can you ever think of a better finish than what you just witnessed? It was national TV against the Yankees once again and a big defensive play by the Astros seals the deal.

Let us take these wins with pride as we watch the Astros in the second half. Who knows? There maybe more exciting wins for the Astros this half as they shoot for October baseball.
