Don’t you just love playing the role of party crasher? Think about it. ESPN Sunday Night Baseball vs. the Yankees on the same night as the Derek Jeter retirement ceremony. Sure, as Astros fans, like so many other sports fan, you respected Jeter for his career.

But sadly for Yankee fans, the party ended after George Springer started the game with a leadoff homer. Then Josh Reddick homered to make it 2-0 in the first. But the biggest blow of the game came from Alex Bregman who hit a grand slam while paying tribute to his idol by showing off the number 2.

Suffice to say, the game was over right then although the Yankees did make it interesting late in the game with a ninth-inning rally. Sure ESPN was all over Derek Jeter’s day and rightfully so, but this was the Astros showing everyone who was watching the game that this team is a legitimate contender to win it all.

Sure, New Yorkers probably don’t care about it because they were there to celebrate Jeter. However, if we do win it all, it would be nice to let everyone know the Lastros as they remember us to be are dead and buried and that people should at least pay some attention to what we can be to the sports world.
