It’s GO time for the Houston Texans as the NFL Draft will commence tonight and we all hope as fans that they don’t disappoint us.
There’s plenty of speculation as to how the Houston Texans will draft this year.
Will they actually draft a quarterback high this year?
Will the team go for offensive line early?
Will they finally admit that they do have to draft by need?
In retrospect to those questions, the answers to the first two questions are possible and the last one is not likely.
For those wondering what the draft order is for the next couple of days, here is a review of our picks for 2017:
Round 1: 25th pick (25th overall)
Round 2: 25th pick (57th overall)
Round 3: 25th pick (89th overall)
Round 4: 24th pick (131st overall)
Round 5: 25th pick (169th overall)
Round 6: 4th pick (188th overall)
Round 7: 25th pick (243rd overall)
That’s a lot of picks that the Houston Texans have to work with and they must ensure that they get their bang with their buck on each one that they make.
Will they go with Deshaun Watson? Patrick Mahomes? Mitch Trubisky?
Hmmmmm….
But here’s an interesting development that has occurred over the last day or so.
According to NFL Insider Benjamin Allbright, it’s possible that free agent Jay Cutler could be an option for the Texans if they don’t snag a QB they like in the draft:
Although this is still in the “rumors” stage, I’d have to say that this information is actually plausible.
Although there are questions in regard to his leadership capabilities, he’s not a bad quarterback and could more than handle the controls of this offense.

Yes, he throws interceptions but I doubt he’d throw them at the rate that Brock Osweiler did.
That was just abominable what we saw last season in front of our eyes.
I’ve never been a rah-rah Cutler guy but we need a veteran steady hand in our offense and he fits the bill.
Don’t get me wrong, I’d also love for Tom Savage to get this chance to take this thing over but I’m thinking about the business-side of the Texans’ operation.
Handing the keys to an unproven QB with a lot of unknowns doesn’t seem like the best of business moves.
They’ve had enough egg on their face with the Osweiler deal, let’s not add any additional insult to injury.
So will this actually happen?

I think our question will be answered after tonight or within the next few days at the latest.
We’ll have to see.
Even though the 33-year-old’s season was cut short by injury, he managed to throw four touchdowns to five interceptions along with 1,059 yards to boot through six games in 2016.
But in 2015, he threw 21 touchdowns to career-high 11 interceptions and 28/18 in 2014.
Go Texans.
