Houston Texans 2016 Schedule Released
By Yoni Pollak
The Houston Texans 2016 schedule was released last night. We all knew who the Texans would be facing after the season, but we didn’t know the exact order of events.
The first thing I do when I look at the schedule is to check the team’s bye week. The Texans have been pretty lucky in recent years (if I remember correctly) to have a bye week in the middle of the season, and it’s no different this year. A week 9 bye week gives the Texans the perfect breakpoint in the middle of the season.

The next thing I look at is primetime games. The Texans have five of them this year and three in their first eight games.
A week three tilt in New England on Thursday night starts the Texans primetime scheduling. They’ll be home for a week six division matchup on Sunday Night Football against the Colts. The following week will be their first Monday Night Football affair in Denver with many a storyline to choose from. Week 11 they’ll travel to Mexico City for a road MNF game against the Raiders. Their final primetime game is a Saturday night week 16 game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
There are a few other quirks to the Texans schedule this year. They start the season with two straight home games and three of their first four at home. That’ll even out later in the season when they play four of five on the road following the bye. Houston ends the season with three of their last four games against a division opponent.

The Texans’ only cold weather game this season will probably be in Green Bay in early December. Otherwise, the Texans play in New England and Denver in September in October.
One final cool thing about the Texans schedule is their season opener against the Bears. While the Houston football team plays the Chicago football team in Houston, the Astros will coincidentally be facing the Cubs at Minute Maid Park with scheduled first pitch an hour after kickoff. It should make for a fun day on the highways.
