Here were are Houston Rockets fans!

We’re on the home stretch with just 12 games to go.

Yep, that’s right, just 12 games.

And you know what the crazy thing is?

The Rockets WILL qualify for the playoffs because they’re going to make a hard push for it to get in.

It’s also a matter addition and subtraction, the Utah Jazz are fading, the Dallas Mavericks, Portland Trail Blazers and Memphis Grizzlies are all hanging in there.

There not doing anything earth-shattering but are right in the midst of things.

The Jazz are likely going to fall short of contending because it does seem that Gordon Hayward will continue to battle with his plantar fasciitis injury and will not be 100 percent until that foot heals.

I’ve had a mild case of it — I’m a long-distance, cross-country runner — so it pops up every now and it’s no fun when it’s there.

It’s extremely debilitating as far as what it can do to you.

But anyway, as wildly inconsistent as the Rockets are, they will still be able to battle with a team at least for one round in the upcoming playoffs.

I’d love to see us match up with either the Golden State Warriors, Oklahoma City Thunder or even the Los Angeles Clippers in a seven-game series.

Who I didn’t mention?

The San Antonio Spurs.

They’ve had our number for the entire season — with the exception of the Christmas Day game — and there’s no way we’re going to be able to hang with them.

The Spurs were built to win a championship right now and I don’t see anybody standing in the way of their path with the exception of the Warriors.

They’re just too good on defense and our lackadaisical-style is not going to work well against them.

We match up quite well with the Thunder and the Clippers as we have talent that can go tit-for-tat with each an every possession.

As far as the Warriors, they’re clearly the talented team but I think we can try to catch them while fatigued.

I think the Warriors have put so much energy in chasing the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls 72-10 best overall season record that they may run out of gas come the playoffs.

We saw a glimpse of that this past Saturday against the Spurs.

The Spurs completely annihilated what the Warriors do and they were defenseless in their 87-79 loss.

We were in most of the games against the Warriors in the West Finals last year so bring them on!

Moreover, these last 12 games are critical for this team and I’m hoping they can just string more than three wins together to gain a foothold in the upper-seeds for grabs in the Western Conference.

Lo and behold, the 5th seed is up for grabs as the Grizz could slide enough for us to catch them but Zach Randolph has returned from injury so he’ll be primed to give that team a boost.

I just want to see some consistency out these Rockets for Pete’s Sake!

They can have all of the “players-only” meetings that they want but if it’s not going to translate to peak performance against the good team on the floor, then it’s just an utter waste of time holding those.

But I’m still holding out hope and I still see good things for this team.

12 games to go — let’s go!
