I’m stunned Houston Rockets fans!
I’m shocked, beside myself, my jaw has dropped, all of the above!
Our team pulled off the unthinkable, a comeback win for the ages when I thought this team was ready to hold up the white flag!
What I am I talking about?
I’m talking about the Rockets impressive 119-105 win over the Portland Trail Blazers last night!
Just in case you decided to head to bed — as this game was being played on the West Coast — a funny thing happened with our team.
They showed that they cared about the game that we love and emanated some heart along the way!
Their resurgence included a comeback from 21 points down ending the game on a 44-16 run over the Blazers!
Wow!
When the game looked as if it were going south, I started having my doubts about the team’s seriousness of making something of this season.
I had already started a diatribe on our House of Houston (@HouseOfHouston) twitter account about maybe the Rockets should just mail it in for the final 23 games of the season.
At that moment, I felt that there would be nothing for the Rockets to gain by making the playoffs this season other than pride.
But after what I saw last night, I still see the team I saw from last season, hustling and giving everything they had to get the “W.”
This is a pivotal and the most important stretch of the season — the home stretch — and the Rockets will have to sprint significantly to elbow their way into a playoff berth for the 4th consecutive season.
Hell, I had even started to post memes in regard to how much I miss Kevin McHale!
Yes, it got that bad!
But the Rockets made some tremendous adjustments…
James Harden started playing hard on both ends of the floor, he was nearly unstoppable on offense and the rest of the team followed his lead.

As they have been doing — whether his bad habits were good for the team is definitely up for debate.
Trevor Ariza was assigned to guard Damian Lillard and that was the single-most important move the Rockets could’ve made.
With Ariza’s exceptional defensive mindset, he shut Lillard down and ensured that he wouldn’t be sinking a game-winner last night.
Hell, Jason Terry was knocking down key jumpers, left and right!

At one point in the season, I felt that the Jet was the only player that gave a damn about how the Rockets were doing this season.
He’s 38-years-old but he has the heartbeat and hustle of a teenager and I had wished that his character could be cloned across the entire roster.
Well that seemed to happen last night!
I know it’s just one game and we have two more dozen games to go but it was nice to see a concerted, hard-fought effort for a change!
We just need to see this night-in and night-out but I won’t hold my breath as this team has been wildly inconsistent.
RedNation — all I can tell you is that we must take each game one at a time and hope for the best.
