Now I’m seeing Houston Rockets basketball!

Did any of you see last night’s contest against the Milwaukee Bucks?

If you did, I’m sure you were pleased with the results!

Although winning the basketball game is the ultimate outcome that we all want, the fact that this team looked like they were having fun out there on the court is quite refreshing.

Unless you’ve been under a rock as of late, you may have heard that Josh Smith has returned to the Rockets via a trade with the Los Angeles Clippers.

The things the Rockets seemed to be missing, J-Smoove was able to fill the gaps with his ability to help shut down the paint, his passing skills and the timely buckets he’s known for.

Although he scored just two points — he hasn’t played much for L.A. so he’s rusty — he still did the little things to help this team win.

I’m thankful he’s back and this may be start of something special for this team as we near the second half of the season.

And here’s another thing that I’m noticing…

The elevation of Ty Lawson.

Have you seen him lately?  He’s dishing the ball, hitting key buckets and working harder on defense!

Ty is becoming the player that we all expected to see this season and he looked quite comfortable out there last night.

In fact, it was the most comfortable that I’ve seen Ty all season.

He was out there, smiling and loving the contributions that he had made.

So as a result, the Rockets are leaning toward keeping Lawson for at least the rest of the season.

USA TODAY’s Sam Amick reports:

This is not surprising considering his solid play as of late and that the level of interest for his services has been lukewarm at best.

More from House of Houston

At one time, as per Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders, Lawson was connected with the Bucks as a possible landing spot.

They have some interesting pieces that they were allegedly going to move such as Greg Monroe, O.J. Mayo or even Jerryd Bayless.

But those talks have died down now and the Bucks have even said that a deal for Ty is “highly unlikely” at this time.

More from Houston Rockets

At one point, he and his camp wanted to force a trade so that he could get more playing time but with the bad stretch of injuries to Patrick Beverley and to an lesser extent in Jason Terry, Ty has been getting quality minutes as of late.

Although I’ve been hard on Ty as of late, I’d like to see him blossom here as a Rocket.

He had 11 points, four assists and two rebounds while shooting 50 percent from the field in 27 minutes of action last night.

So all in all, I’m looking forward to him being around as he does his part to help this team be a winner.

Next: J-Smoove: The Canary In The Coalmine

I know it’s early, but J-Smoove seems to have been the catalyst to help get this team in some type of offensive/defensive rhythm.

The Rockets have taken part in 45 games so far with a 23-22 record, holding on to the No. 7 NBA playoff seed (if they started today), so what’s going to happen for the remaining 37 games?

We’re about to find out.

Go Rockets!
