Houston Texans’ Tidbits:
Brian Hoyer: Hoyer is still in concussion protocol and has been ruled OUT for tomorrow which was news that just broke at the time of this writing. He was previously listed as questionable as he was in attendance at practice this week but we now know that he will be a no-go for Sunday. Brandon Weeden will get the start while recently-signed QB B.J. Daniels will serve as his backup. This serves as a good move for the Texans as they don’t want to rush him back too soon.
Jared Crick: Crick injured his back during practice this week and is considered day-to-day. Bill O’Brien feels it has something to do with the midsection of his back but couldn’t confirm. Despite the setback, O’Brien does expect Crick to be in the lineup Sunday.
Cecil Shorts III: Shorts injured his hamstring against the Indianapolis Colts this past Sunday and did not return to the game. He hasn’t practiced all week and has already been ruled OUT for Sunday. Jaelen Strong, who caught the game-winning touchdown from Weeden in their historical 16-10 win this past Sunday, will get the start.

And here’s the injury report for the Tennessee Titans:
WR Harry Douglas, Ankle
NT Sammie Hill, Knee
QB Marcus Mariota, Knee
S Da’Norris Searcy, Hamstring
TE Delanie Walker, Hamstring
WR Kendall Wright, Ribs
Mariota has been ruled OUT for Sunday. Douglas, Hill, Searcy, Walker and Wright are PROBABLE for Sunday.
Tennessee Titans’ Tidbits:
Marcus Mariota: Despite numerous reports from various outlets indicating that Mariota would be shut down for the season with an MCL sprain in his right knee, he is hopefully that he can return to lineup for the last game of the season, a Week 17 match up against the Colts in their house.
His sprain isn’t as serious as previously reported so that certainly gives him optimism that he can make a return. Mariota told Jason Wolf of the Tennessean that “the frustration of not being able to be out there with the guys bothers me more than what’s going on with my knee.”
I’m positive that Mariota is sincere with those comments but the franchise will protect him by holding him out for the rest of the season as they’re strong candidates to get the first pick of the 2016 Draft. Zach Mettenberger will be the point-man for the rest of the way.
