Clowney, Demps and Washington have been ruled OUT for Sunday.  Blue, Crick, Peters and Strong are listed as questionable.  Aboushi, Ballentine, Bouye, Brown, Cushing, Dent, Fiedorowicz, Foster, Grimes, Jackson, Newton, Polk and Shorts are good to go and probable for Sunday.

Houston Texans’ Tidbits:

Jadeveon Clowney:  Clowney has been vacillating back-and-forth between a walking boot and an ankle brace since sustaining a sprain to his right ankle last Thursday against the Colts.  He did have limited participation — basically riding on the exercise bike — in practice throughout the week though. Bill O’Brien had originally thought he was going to fine for Sunday but things must’ve taken a turn for the worse as he has been ruled out for Sunday to play.  As the week progressed, O’Brien downgraded his status to saying more of he has a “chance” to play to not playing at all.  It’s tough break for Clowney who has looked good so far this year despite that he has no sacks to his credit.  I’m sure he’ll be good to go in another week but you never know with Clowney and his injuries.  Let’s just hope for the best and cross our fingers.  He has nine tackles and one forced fumble through five games this season.

Nate Washington:  Washington is still reeling from a hamstring injury that he suffered against the Atlanta Falcons two games ago.  He is receiving the utmost of treatment from the Texans’ training staff but is still not quite ready yet.  The hamstring is an important muscle to be in top shape for a receiver because it’s one of the key muscles for that explosiveness to elude defenders.  If that’s not on point, there’s no point in playing.  Washington said that he’ll be a significant contributor long before the season concludes.  The Houston Chronicle’s Dale Robertson thinks he’ll likely be back after the bye week for their Monday night match up against the Cincinnati Bengals Nov. 16 which would be pretty accurate.  Washington also added that “these things happen” and he “just got to do whatever I can to get it right so I can get back out there with the fellas. I’ll be back. I’ve got plenty left in the tank, believe me.”  Let’s hope for the best with Nate.

Cecil Shorts III:  Shorts has made an impressive recovery of his shoulder injury that he sustained against the Falcons two games ago.  He feels good out there as he did practice in full for this week.  He’ll get a chance to face his former team where he situated for the first three seasons of his career.  He also credits head trainer Geoff Kaplan for getting back on track by saying this:  “My body reacted well and they do a great job in this training room,” he said.  “It’s the training staff and the work they gave me to help get me right.”  This excellent news as our depth at the receiver position had taken a huge hit after they were dropping like flies against the Falcons.  He’ll be needed and let’s hope he has a big game in the air and that Brian Hoyer can hook up with good, old-fashioned rapport.

    Jacksonville Jaguars’ Tidbits:

T.J. Yeldon:  The starting rookie running back has been impressive quite so far for the Jags as he has taken the reins for the team on the ground and has been compared to a baby Le’Veon Bell this far. He suffered a groin injury in their match up last week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  Head coach Gus Bradley has ruled him as a game-time decision so there might be a chance that he’ll play this Sunday.  O’Brien had mentioned how much of a better job the team has to do to stop the run and mentioned Yeldon is quite a challenge to defend because he’s tough to tackle.  If Yeldon can’t go, expect Denard Robinson to get the start.  Yeldon has 291 yards off 81 carries through five games averaging 3.6 yards per carry.  He also caught he is first touchdown pass of his career — a three-yarder — against the Bucs last week.

The Texans take on the Jags Sunday at EverBank Field.

Kickoff is scheduled for noon CDT.

The game will be televised on CBS and broadcast on 610 SportsRadio AM/100.3 FM (KILT) & ESPN Deportes 1180 AM in Spanish.
