With the 211th pick in Round 6 of the 2015 NFL Draft, the Houston Texans select…

Reshard Cliett!

Up until recent seasons, the Texans really weren’t focused on beefing up their defense which is what is ultimately it’s what needed to win championships.  One can look no further than the Seattle Seahawks as far as their success over the past few seasons and their Super Bowl win the year before last.

Now is the time more than ever to ensure that the Texans can’t miss in these later rounds because a lot of these guys found will likely have a solid role on our roster.

You don’t have to take my word for it, ESPN’s Trey Wingo mentioned that the 33 percent of an NFL team’s final roster are filled with picks in Rounds 4 through 7.

That’s an interesting stat so the Texans will need to do everything they can to make it count and ensure that our fan base is proud of their work.

After all, it’s the fans that our the fuel to the NFL’s massive engine right?

I’m thrilled that the Texans were able to find such a find in this round and Cliett could certainly could be a diamond-in-the rough.

  • Cliett stands 6’2″, with a 235-pound frame that is geared to wreck havoc on defenses galore.

Although quite a standout at the University of South Florida, he is relatively unknown on the national front because his team doesn’t necessarily grab the spotlight that’s needed.

But it’s good to know that the Texans see talent when it’s right in front of them and hope the Cliett will provide a valuable contribution to the defensive line.

He’s extremely athletic and I’m sure he’ll be used in a multitude of ways and he continues to fit the theme of this year’s draft for the Texans — versatility.

He didn’t participate in the NFL Combine but here are his numbers from the USF Pro Day via the Houston Texans PR Staff:

Cliett is a mysterious pick and I’m certainly hopeful that he pans out.

Mike Vrabel is already following him on Twitter — or has been — so it looks like he’s eager to work with him as well.

Cliett had 138 combined tackles, 18.0 tackles-for-loss, 9.0 sacks and seven pass defended in his four seasons with USF.

I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do!
