Houston Rockets Desist Milwaukee Bucks 117-103

The Houston Rockets have effectively rebounded from a nightmare of a game against the Los Angeles Clippers this past Friday evening.

Despite the amount of Rockets’ players that are out, the team still look quite pitiful against the Clips team which, all in all, is pretty darn good.

But I honestly think that the Rockets were downtrodden a bit after losing Isaiah Canaan because of injury but luckily his status is day-to-day and he said that he will be out likely for the next couple of days.

That means that he’ll miss a couple of games.

It’s a new day, a new opponent and the Rockets had to have a new mindset going into last night’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks.

They did.

There were confident, smart with the basketball — committing only 13 turnovers — against a Bucks team that has vastly improved.

I’m sure Rockets’ fans were wondering who was going to get the start at point guard and that turned out to be Jason Terry as I expected.

The Jet was incredible last night, being the floor general that he’s been known for his entire career and providing the veteran leadership the Rockets were lacking last season.

In the 1st quarter, the Bucks got off to nice start with Jabari Parker and Larry Sanders getting layups on back-to-back possessions putting them up 4-0.

Led by a Trevor Ariza three-pointer, the Rockets then went on a 7-0 run to lead the Bucks 9-6 after a layup and a power dunk by Tarik Black.

The Rockets would continue to jostle with the Deer taking their largest lead of five at some points eventually ending the quarter ahead 28-23.

At the start of the 2nd quarter, Terry was still in the groove hitting a jumper with at the 10:27 mark giving the Rockets a 30-23 lead.

The Bucks then went on a 6-0 run to close to gap led by Giannis Antetokounmpo, Sanders and Brandon Knight  to trail the Rockets by one, making the score 30-29 Rockets.

Terry then answered with another three-ball putting the Rockets back on top 33-29.

As the quarter progressed, the Rockets got extremely hot behind-the-arc, eventually pushing their lead to nine.  This barrage of three-pointers were derived from Ariza, Terry and James Harden. Rockets 53, Bucks 44

Antetokounmpo stopped the Bucks bleeding with a dunk right at the end of the 1st half.  Rockets 53, Bucks 46

The Rockets came out the locker room full steam ahead as Harden, Donatas Motiejunas and Terry put the Rockets by as much as 16 points with a Harden free throw with 7:20 left.  Rockets 68, Bucks 52

The Rockets maintained control and kept the Bucks at bay with the Bucks not getting closer than within 11 points of the Rockets.

Antetokounmpo ended the 3rd quarter by sinking two free throws after a Joey Dorsey foul with one second left.  Rockets 85, Bucks 72

It was more of the same in the 4th quarter and the Rockets lead went back up to as much as 18 points after an Ariza jump shot with 4:20 left.  Rockets 108, Bucks 90

The Rockets coasted the rest of the way to get a nice win over the Bucks.  Final Score: Rockets 117, Bucks 103

The team rebounded nicely in the statistical category shooting 50.6 percent from the field, 39.5 percent from behind-the-arc, including 14-of-16 at the free throw line.

They also out-rebounded the Bucks by a margin of 12 — 44 to 32.

Harden once again led all scorers with 34 points, six rebounds, eight dimes and four steals in 38 minutes of action.

D-Mo continues his surge upward with chipping in 20 points, six rebounds and four assists.  He was dunk-slamming balls everywhere and did a nice job on Jabari Parker at points.

Terry was exceptional by playing a surprising 34 minutes to get 18 points, six rebounds and five dimes.

The Rockets have a few days off before their next game so he can rest those veteran legs.

I also have to give credit to Kevin McHale for managing his limited resources to beat the Bucks.  He was efficient and this is one of his best coaching jobs to date.
