Houston Rockets: It’s Time for a Uniform Change
As the Houston Rockets continue to ascend and shine with the high-level of talent that has been added over the years, some things haven’t changed.
As the Rockets unveiled their secondary logo this week, that subject matter begs a question that I’m sure many Rockets’ fans will spar over.
We, as fans, have a new secondary logo but when are they going to update our uniforms? The current design is outmoded and needs to be freshened up a bit to be chic once again.
I remember when the design was released — it was the summer of 2003, Yao Ming had just completed an impressive rookie year, the franchise was fresh off a 43-win season and it was eagerly awaiting to move into Toyota Center, its new digs.

I have to admit, I was excited when they were released; but, the novelty has worn off.
I even recall reading that Dwight Howard echoing my same sentiments in a interview in the off-season of last summer, shortly after he signed to be part of the Legacy of Bigs!
The current alternate jerseys are the closest to the colors that I want to see on a regular basis! Bring the Ketchup & Mustard back!
Over the years of the existence of the franchise, the Rockets have had four mainstream jerseys — from the simple, yet effective forest green & old gold design from the inception of the franchise in San Diego, to the storied 25-year run of the red, white and yellow, to the current design — there’s a lot of anecdotes to tell but let’s end the current chapter and start a new one.
I’m not even going to the mention the short-lived “pajamas” design from 1996 to 2003 that dared to experiment with blue as the primary color. I hope all remnants of that design have been burned and that I never see those again.

The majority of time the Rockets had those as their daily driver, they were in rebuilding mode but there were some exciting times but lots of disappointment.
If we land the free agent that we as fans so covet, such as LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony or possibly Kevin Love, it would be nice to see our favorite players trot up and down our home court in some new threads.
I propose the Rockets should make this one of their top priorities! What do you think? Comment below!
We can only hope they will…
