Week 12 Houston Texans Vs. New Orleans Saints: Game Information and Predictions

facebooktwitterreddit

The Houston Texans impressively were able to take down the New York Jets last week as they continue to make their case of why they should be playing in the postseason.

It’s certainly up for grabs and the Texans must attempt to win every game possible so that they can get in and do some damage.

They not only have a chance to take the division but to start grab a foothold on the first Wild Card slot in the AFC.

It’s not impossible as far as what they’re trying to do and they can keep their awesome momentum against the Saints today.

They will be facing the league’s 2nd-ranked offense as well as the league’s worst defense so we’ll have to see if the game plan that the Texans have put together is adequate for this formidable opponent.

I’d like to see more trick plays just like last week and I really feel that some of them will work.

Put J.J. Watt in at tight end!

With the offensive weapons each team has, it has the potential to be a shoot out but we’ll have to see.

Here’s everything you need to know about today’s game:

Bold Predictions:

1.)  Whitney Mercilus will have an outstanding game.

Mercilus is due for breakout game and this may be his golden opportunity.  The Saints are ranked only 17th in their running attack, averaging 101.3 yards per game.  With Mercilus’ ability to contain the outside and to help out with the blitz on the quarterback, there’s no reason why he can disrupt what the Saints try to do on the ground with Mark Ingram and Khiry Robinson leading the charge.  Is five tackles and couple of sacks out of the question for him?  Not at all and I see him being the star of the defense today.

2.)  DeAndre Hopkins will post Madden-like numbers.

Nuk still has able to rip through the New York Jets’ defense this past Sunday with 118 yards and two touchdowns to his credit.  At the time, they were NFL’s 4th-ranked defense and he made look so easy with the theatrics that he was able exercise.  He completely staked his claim on Revis Island, commandeering it for himself.  So how about today?  I see a plus 200-yard, three touchdown performance for Hopkins against the Saints, who possess the worst defense in the NFL.  They currently yield a combined 424.3 yards per game.

3.)  Brian Hoyer will have the best performance of the season.

Hoyer did pass for 312 yards against the Indianapolis Colts last month and there’s no reason why he can’t exceed that total today.  How about a 325-yard, four touchdown performance against the Saints’ defense with no picks?  It’s quite possible and we’ll see how it goes.  As much flak as I gave Hoyer when they signed him, he’s been quite good for the Texans, being accurate on his throws and just plain taking care of the football.  It’s crazy but I see this happening, we’ll see.

Game Score Prediction: 31-21 in a Texans’ win!
