Donatas Motiejunas: HOH’s Week 15 Silver Booster Award Winner

As Week 15 comes to a close, the Houston Rockets are undeniably winners!

In fact, they’re are an undefeated 2-0 for the week!

It was a rather light week for team that has been filled with rest which is usually the case when the NBA’s schedule does not try to conflict with the NFL’s coverage of the Super Bowl.

The Rockets weren’t perfect but they continue to find ways to win despite the challenges that face them.

The Rockets were pitted with yet another tough obstacle with announcing that Dwight Howard would be out at least a month tending to his right knee injury.

Howard had some bone marrow removed from his pelvis to inject into his knee to help it heal quicker while he’s resting up for the next month or so.

He will be re-evaluated within the next four weeks and if everything goes as planned his return could be well before the start of the playoffs.

I’m not positive if this is just a quick-fix to get him ready or a long-term solution but I just hope to see him back on the court soon.

The team continues to press on without Howard, the team is 13-5 without him, but not having around I know puts an irreplaceable voice/familiar face in the locker room.

Other than that, the Rockets are positioned quite well in the Western Conference, holding on 3rd place in the West with a 35-15 record.

It was a week that us Rockets fans could be proud of!

There’s a guy that I’m really proud of for his efforts this past week, in fact, I’ve felt this way for the entire season!

Because of this, excellence deserves to be recognized — today on that type of basis continuously, we will honor an individual player that made the most impact in helping the team, despite whether it resulted in a win or a loss.

We’ve dubbed it House of Houston Silver Booster Award

And this week’s Silver Booster Award goes to…

Donatas Motiejunas!

This is the first time D-Mo is the recipient of the award this season.

He has played consistently well and has done everything that has been asked of him and more.

We’ve seen him slam it home, his plethora of pivots/fakes in the paint to get his buckets, his signature fade away jump hook as well as him crashing the boards and much, much more!

He was asked to step up when Terrence Jones went down earlier in the season with his nerve injury and hasn’t looked back.

He is playing extra hard to ensure that his starting spot is not taken away.

He is flourishing in the role, logging way more minutes than he ever has in his career.

The only thing that I worry about is that he’s going to get so good that teams are going to be pining for his services — if not already — to which Daryl Morey will definitely entertain with a deal.

With the trade deadline on the horizon, you can bank on it.

He’s become a favorite Rocket of mine but Morey has made it a common practice not to get too attached to players and to continue to focus on innovative ways to make the team better.

But for right now, we can enjoy a sort of renaissance that D-Mo has had thus far.

More from Houston Rockets

By the way, for the week, he has averaged 14.5 points, 6.5 rebounds while shooting 13-for-23 from the field for 57 percent.  Sprinkle a little heart and hustle with those numbers and you have a player that made every bit of a difference in the wins we had.  Not to mention his stifling defense!

Keep on keepin’ on, D-Mo, RedNation is behind you 100 percent!

It has been great to watch your incredible season progress in front of our eyes!

Go Rockets!
