The NFL regular season is just two weeks away, and teams are starting to trim their roster down. The official roster cutdown day is on Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET, but teams aren't waiting until then to make all the decisions.

And a former Texans offensive lineman got axed on Tuesday. According to Matt Zenitz, the Philadelphia Eagles have waived offensive linemen Kenyon Green.

Former Texans OL Kenyon Green Already Waived by Eagles

It was just in March that the Texans traded Green and a 2025 fifth-round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles for C.J. Gardner-Johnson and a 2026 sixth-round pick.

The Eagles' offensive line was already loaded, but Green was brought in to compete for a spot on the 53-man roster. Landon Dickerson and Tyler Steen were locked in as starters at guard, but depth is always needed. Instead of taking advantage of this opportunity, he fell behind.

Green suffered some injuries this training camp, which pushed him down the depth chart. He was running with the third team OL but didn't do himself any favors during the preseason. In the preseason contest against the Bengals, he finished with a 45.4 overall grade and 55 run blocking grade per PFF.

Two weeks later in the game against the Jets, Green had a 59.2 overall grade and 53.8 run blocking grade.

This comes after a miserable 2024 season in Houston. The former first-round pick logged a 38.6 overall grade (132nd among 136 graded guards), 39.7 pass-blocking grade (107th among 136 graded guards), and 44.6 run blocking grade (132nd among 136 graded guards) per PFF in 2024.

Green was drafted in the first round of the 2022 NFL draft, but was never able to play up to his draft grade. Instead, the Texans were able to add a Super Bowl champion to their secondary for a player who won't even make the 53-man roster.

There's a world where the Eagles bring Green back onto the practice squad, but he didn't do enough to secure his spot.

The Texans felt the same way with Green and decided to move on. And a couple of months later, his stint with the Eagles is over.
