The Houston Texans have used the past couple of months to improve their roster after getting packed up in the divisional round of the playoffs over the past two years.
This group made some sweeping changes on the offensive line and at WR. These moves will directly impact franchise QB C.J. Stroud as he looks to have a bounce-back campaign.
OTAs and training camp will give this team time to build some camaraderie ahead of the 2025 season. Before the Texans get into the thick of the summer, Stroud and RB Joe Mixon will be competing against each other.
Mixon posted on his X account that he and Stroud will have their best seven people going against one another in drills, games, and contests. The event will go down at the Texans' practice facility on June 7th from 9 am-1 pm.
C.J. Stroud and Joe Mixon Will Square Off in a Friendly Competition
Houston's OTAs run through May 28-30, June 3-5. Mandatory minicamp will then be from June 10-11.
This event is stacked in the middle and is something that's cool for the community. Stroud and Mixon will have some fun activities happening that allow people to witness. In the link that Mixon posted, it says the event is open to boys and girls from grades 1-8. Giving back to the next generation is always a great thing to do and is something these Texans stars plan to do.
Last offseason, Mixon was acquired by Houston and quickly landed a three-year, $27 million extension. In his first season with the team, Mixon posted 1,016 rushing yards, 309 receiving yards, and 12 total touchdowns.
He gave Stroud a reliable rusher in the backfield, and they are looking to take things to another level in 2025. Having an event together will only push that relationship into an additional gear, and that could translate onto the football field.
