Late last month, the Houston Texans addressed the wide receiver position, taking not one but two wide receivers in the 2025 NFL Draft.
With their first pick of the 2025 draft, the Texans took former Iowa State wideout Jayden Higgins. Then, in the third round, Houston took Higgins’ teammate, Jaylin Noel.
The Texans hope that the Iowa State duo can step in and make an immediate impact in their first year.
There’s a lot of excitement surrounding Higgins, who is 6-foot-4 and 214 pounds. Houston does not have a big-bodied receiver who can run a 4.47 in the 40-yard dash, win the 50-50 balls, and get yards after the catch.
On Wednesday, Higgins’ sports agency announced that the rookie receiver signed with Adidas, which is a huge partnership to start his career.
Higgins will join 12 other rookies from this year’s class who Adidas signed ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft. The other rookies that signed with Adidas were Travis Hunter, Abdul Carter, Jalon Walker, Shemar Stewart, Nic Scourton, Shavon Revel, Maxwell Hairston, Emeka Egbuka, Jalen Royals, Nick Nash, and Elijah Arroyo.
For those keeping count at home, C.J. Stroud is a Jordan Brand athlete, while Will Anderson Jr. signed with Klutch Athletics under the New Balance umbrella.
The Texans hope Higgins can build off what he did at Iowa State over the last two years (140 receptions for 2,166 yards and 15 touchdowns) and become a go-to option for third-year quarterback C.J. Stroud.
With Tank Dell banged up, targets will be available for Higgins or Noel despite the addition of veteran Christian Kirk, who could be featured in the slot a lot this upcoming season.
If Higgins lives up to his pre-draft hype, the Texans’ offense could be one of the best in the AFC in 2025.
