Not every team in the AFC South can be as lucky as the Houston Texans are when it comes to the quality of starter they have under center at the quarterback position.
C.J. Stroud has shown that he is capable of being among the best signal callers the NFL has to offer when he is at his best. Maintaining that level of play for 17 games is the next step that the former Ohio State Buckeyes standout will look to accomplish during the 2025 campaign.
The Tennessee Titans wish they could say the same about the quarterback who served as their starter the last two seasons. Will Levis has been so bad since taking over as QB1 in Nashville that the franchise selected his replacement, Cam Ward, with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Now, he is dealing with the consequences and doesn't appear to be having a great time.
"Anyone who's ever been in my situation would agree that it sucks," Levis said, via Main Street Nashville. "I'm just trying to do the best I can to not let it affect me and just being the same dude every day in the building and being there for the guys however I can and just trying to get better every day."
No one will argue that Levis is in an unwanted situation. He can't blame anyone but himself for this, though. With as bad as Levis was during the 2024 campaign, he's lucky to still be on Tennessee's roster. You can't complain about your spot on the depth chart after turning the ball over 26 times in just 21 games.
While Texans fans and defenders will be sad to see the former second-round pick head to the bench this season, they can still take solace in the fact that, largely because of the miss on Levis, the Titans are a ways away from being relevant in the AFC South.
Perhaps the quarterback for Houston's division rival should be more concerned with what he did to become a backup rather than groaning to the media about how much his new role on the team "sucks."
