The Houston Texans will be using the next few months to find some improvements. After getting eliminated in the divisional round each of the last two years, the Texans need to do some things differently in 2025.
They decided to fire Bobby Slowik after the season ended and named Nick Caley as the new offensive coordinator. Houston is hoping he can take this offense to new heights in 2025. He comes from the Sean McVay tree and has a lot of fans around the league.
Even Texans legend Andre Johnson seems excited about the hiring. When speaking to KPRC2, Johnson said, "I think it was a great hire. Very creative mind, just very excited. To see what we have right now for the organization, things have been trending in the right direction."
Why Andre Johnson believes new offensive coordinator Nick Caley is a 'great hire' for #Texans and what it means for quarterback C.J. Stroud @KPRC2 https://t.co/f15bD6BfbA

Andre Johnson Likes the Addition of Nick Caley
Johnson thinks the connection between Caley and C.J. Stroud will be something that both sides benefit from.
"I think it’s a great thing. (Caley) has worked with some great players and C.J. is a great player. I’m sure they’ll be picking each others’ brains. C.J. is a kid who really wants to learn. He’s always trying to do something to better himself. The future is bright for the organization. I can’t wait for next season."Andre Johnson
Caley has spent the last two seasons on McVay's staff with the Rams and learned a ton under one of the best offensive minds in the league.
His biggest job is to get Stroud to elevate his play. During his sophomore season, Stroud's production took a dip in some areas.
His completion percentage (63.9% to 63.2%), passing yards (4,108 to 3,727), and passing touchdowns (23 to 20), all decreased in 2024. His interceptions even increased from five to 12.
Caley will play a big role in Stroud regaining that edge that he held as a rookie and Johnson has a lot of faith that the 42-year-old will be able to do so.
