With the 2025 NFL Draft on the horizon, NFL free agency is moving more slowly as teams around the league work on putting the final touches on their draft preparation. That said, we should still have some minor free agents between now and the start of the first round of the draft.

One player who could be next to sign a deal is former Houston Texans cornerback Myles Bryant. Bryant spent last season with the Texans after signing a one-year, $1.02 million deal.

The 27-year-old defensive back went from a spot starter in New England to rotational a depth piece in Houston’s secondary. Bryant appeared in 11 games last year, recording 14 combined tackles.

He was also cut by the Texans in mid-November, but was re-signed a couple of days later to the practice squad. Houston eventually signed Bryant back to the active roster a little over a week after being added to the taxi squad.

The 5-foot-9 defender spent most of his time on special teams, playing 40% percent of snaps, with 10% of defensive snaps. However, Bryant stepped up when his name was called upon in the playoffs.

The veteran defensive back played 43 defensive snaps (season-high) in the Texans’ wildcard win over the Los Angeles Chargers. Bryant had three combined tackles and a pass deflection.

After playing well against the Chargers, Bryant again saw 43 defensive snaps and started in the AFC Divisional Round against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Even though Houston lost to the Chiefs, Bryant did what he could from his position. The veteran defensive back had four combined tackles and two pass deflections. According to Pro Football Focus, Bryant produced a 66.2 run defense grade (21st among 62 qualified CBs) and a 65.8 coverage grade (16th) in the postseason.

Additionally, Bryant had a 41.7 completion percentage allowed on targets (five recs allowed on 12 targets), a 108.7 pass rating allowed when targeted, and gave up one touchdown.

Even though he didn’t start in the regular season with the Texans, Bryant has some value as a slot cornerback who can start if need be or play special teams. If Jeff Okudah found a new opportunity, Bryant should be up next.

It wouldn’t be shocking if Bryant lands his next opportunity immediately after the 2025 NFL Draft when teams are working towards putting the final touches on their 90-man rosters.
