With free agency officially kicking off in less than a week, teams around the NFL have started to position themselves to be active and aggressive to improve their roster. We have seen surprise releases, contract restructures, and extensions with that objective in mind.
This is also true for the Houston Texans. Desperate to take the next step and get over the postseason hump, the Texans need to revamp their roster. The wide rotation room is widely considered to be one area GM Nick Caserio is expected to address. With Tank Dell missing the entirety of the 2025 season and Stefon Diggs hitting free agency after tearing his ACL, the Texans will likely have a very different WR room next season.
One name that has emerged in recent days is Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf. NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported in his Good Morning Football segment on Thursday that Houston is among the teams interested in trading for Metcalf.

Texans Among Potential Suitors for DK Metcalf
While the Texans desperately need an elite WR to pair with Nico Collins, they should look elsewhere than Metcalf.
The Athletic's Dianna Russini reported earlier on Thursday that the Seahawks are looking for a first and a third-round pick for the 27-year-old. Plus, Metcalf is reportedly seeking a new contract with an annual average salary of $30 million.
The Texans are already low on draft capital this year. They have the No. 25 overall pick and only have five more selections in the 2025 NFL Draft. Trading their most valuable picks to pay Metcalf top of the market is not the smartest use of assets.
Perhaps this is a leverage play from both Seattle and the two-time Pro Bowler. It's hard to imagine any team giving up that much for a player of Metcalf's caliber on an expiring contract. If that is indeed what it will take to acquire him, the Texans are likely better off using their first-round pick on a WR prospect instead.
