The Houston Rockets are all-in on competing for a championship once the 2025-26 season tips off after agreeing to acquire Kevin Durant from the Phoenix Suns in what has been, without question, the biggest acquisition of the NBA offseason.
While we know that Durant is bound for Houston, the trade itself has yet to be finalized by the NBA, as reports indicated the deal would expand to include more teams than just the Rockets and Suns. Well, the deal still hasn't been finalized, but fans now know that this trade will rewrite the league's record book once approved by the NBA.
Rockets' Trade for Kevin Durant to Include Record-Breaking Seven Teams
When we say the NBA has never seen a trade like the deal Houston has pulled off for the future Hall of Famer, it isn't hyperbole. There has never been a trade involving this many teams before and, honestly, it could be a while before fans see something similar.
According to Fred Katz of The Athletic, the Atlanta Hawks, Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers, and Minnesota Timberwolves will also be part of the league's first seven-team trade.

The Rockets and Suns have expanded the Kevin Durant trade to include five other teams: ATL, BKN, GSW, LAL, MIN.
The move will consolidate a bunch of previously agreed upon trades into one deal.
The rest of the details are still being ironed out before the league officially announces the trade but Katz went out to explain the portions of the deal that directly impact the Rockets and Suns. Per Katz, Kevin Durant and Clint Capela will be heading to Houston. Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, and Daeqwon Plowden are being sent to Phoenix. David Roddy will also be moved to Atlanta.
Before this deal, the largest trade completed in NBA history came during the summer of 2005 when the Memphis Grizzlies, Boston Celtics, Miami Heat, New Orleans Hornets, and Utah Jazz swapped 13 players as part of a five-team trade, headlined by Jason Williams and Antoine Walker.
