The Houston Texans have used this offseason to their advantage, using these past few months to make some changes to the roster.
Even though they made it to the Divisional round for two straight postseasons, it wasn't good enough. They had Stefon Diggs leave in free agency, and Tank Dell's status for the 2025 season is up in the air.
The Texans needed more playmakers on the outside for C.J. Stroud, and they made sure to bring in multiple guys. They signed Justin Watson in free agency and traded for Christian Kirk. Then, in the NFL draft, they added Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel.
Although Higgins has been around for less than two months, you already see his presence making a difference for this team.
Texans Rookie WR Jayden Higgins Quickly Making Plays in 1st Practices
OTAs started on May 28 for Houston, and the rookie receiver wasted no time making plays for his new club. In the first couple of practices, Higgins has been seen reeling in a deep touchdown grab while also showcasing his ability to run past defenders and make a grab downfield.
Following the first practice on May 28, receiver Nico Collins couldn't stop himself from saying good things about the new pass catcher.
Collins is a top WR in this league and having Higgins line up across from him will only make things easier for everyone on offense.
Over his last two seasons at Iowa State, he had 140 catches for 2,166 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns. The fact that he's already standing out in practice it's a terrific sign. He will have mandatory minicamp and training camp to continue building in the right direction.
The Texans wanted to have quality playmakers around Stroud, and it looks like Higgins is someone who will be ready to make an impact in Year 1.
