The Houston Texans need to improve their offense this offseason. While hiring Nick Caley as offensive coordinator was a good start, fans are clamoring for an addition at receiver or along the offensive line that can help Houston get back on track in 2025.

But while both of those positions are important, the Texans may have a sneaky need at tight end. Dalton Schultz will return to the Texans next year but was underwhelming, catching 53 passes for 532 yards and two touchdowns in the first year of a three-year, $36 million contract. Brevin Jordan signed a one-year extension last December but is coming off a torn ACL.

With 2024 fourth-round pick Cade Stover still on the roster and Teagan Quitoriano a restricted free agent, it could have Houston in the market for a tight end and an intriguing option became available on Monday morning.

Texans Could Pursue Bills Tight End Quintin Morris After Surprising Release

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Buffalo Bills will not tender restricted free agent Quintin Morris before this week’s deadline, leaving him to become an unrestricted free agent when the league year opens on March 12. The Bills could still work out a cheaper deal with the 26-year-old, but it also gives him the chance to talk with other teams for a larger role.

Morris was an undrafted free agent out of Bowling Green after the 2022 draft but has played sparingly through the first three years of his career. Morris has 15 catches for 146 yards and three touchdowns in 45 but the majority of his time has been spent on special teams.

Pro Football Focus gave Morris a 50.1 overall grade last season but it comes with an extremely small sample size on 80 passing snaps. PFF also gave Morris pass blocking grades of 71.9 and 72.9 the past two seasons but that came on a total of 13 pass-blocking snaps.

But at 6-foot-2 and 252 pounds, Morris could be a solid depth option for Houston for a team that could use an extra option heading into next season.
