The Super Bowl has come and gone and while the Houston Texans didn't make it to the big game, all eyes were on the showdown between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles.

Philly ultimately prevailed, much to the chagrin of former Texans DE Charles Omenihu, who now plays for the Chiefs. Unfortunately for the 27-year-old edge rusher, Omenihu played poorly. He's a pending free agent hoping to earn a long-term extension, though his injury history and underwhelming production might've just cost him that dream.

There's no love lost between Omenihu and Houston, as he's publicly said that he doesn't like the organization and believes he was lied to. Whether he stays with Kansas City or finds a new team remains to be seen, though we can say for certain that he won't be coming back to the Texans.

Former Texans DE Charles Omenihu Cost Himself Millions With Bad Super Bowl

Omenihu recorded just three tackles, earning a 40.2 grade from Pro Football Reference in the process. Few Chiefs players performed well, so Omenihu wasn't alone in his struggles. However, he's played in just 17 games over the last two seasons and considering the other needs Kansas City has, Omenihu may not be a priority.

Originally drafted in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft by Houston, Omenihu spent the first two and a half years of his career with the Texans before being traded to the San Francisco 49ers. He eventually made his way to Kansas City, where he spent the previous two campaigns.

NFL teams can never have too much pass-rushing depth. Omenihu may not command an outsized salary but he should still have his fair share of suitors. At the very least, he clearly believes in himself.

In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) after his lackluster game, Omenihu called out "twitter GM's" and suggested the average fan online doesn't know what they're talking about.

It's a fair point, though even casual observers can see that Omenihu won't get the type of contract he wants without an incredible offseason. Who knows, perhaps the Texans will play him again next year and earn revenge after he eliminated them in the playoffs.

Either way, this rivalry should continue into 2025 and beyond.
