Houston Texans general manager Nick Caserio has faced understandable criticism based on his efforts in the 2025 NFL Draft. The organization clearly leaned into the offensive side of the ball, yet questions remain whether the picks were worthwhile ones.

Time will tell, and the franchise's focus is centered around ensuring that theoretical superstar quarterback C.J. Stroud has the proper infrastructure surrounding him to establish sustained success. It's hard to look at the Texans' roster and think otherwise, though there is always room to improve.

That's not a new concept, and the Texans have been trying to support Stroud for years. One of their recent failed reclamation projects, veteran wide receiver Robert Woods, has found a new team. Sadly for him, it'll likely be his last.

Failed Texans WR Robert Woods Signs With Steelers

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Pittsburgh Steelers signed 33-year-old wideout Robert Woods to a one-year, $2 million deal. Woods made his name with the Los Angeles Rams, serving as one of Matthew Stafford's most beloved targets.

It's been a long time since then, though, and Woods hasn't been a quality NFL player in years. He played in 14 games last year, catching 20 passes for 203 yards and no TD. Woods has found the end zone just three times since 2021, which was just a year after the world first heard about COVID-19.

In all likelihood, Woods will serve as a veteran mentor for the organization's younger wideouts. George Pickens has dealt with plenty of on-and-off-field issues, and Woods is the type of player who can change his trajectory. It makes sense from Pittsburgh's perspective, though it's also humorous from the Texans'.

With just 60 catches for 629 yards and a TD from Woods in his two-year tenure, Houston fans are understabaly laughing. This is not a player who can produce anything beyond a quality conversation, so here's hoping the Steelers don't expect anything beyond that.
