With the 2025 NFL Draft on the horizon, NFL free agency is starting to slow down as teams focus on putting the final touches on their draft boards. That said, some NFL teams are still making small signings here and there towards their 90-man roster.
Former Houston Texans veteran quarterback Jeff Driskel has yet to find a new opportunity this offseason after he spent last season with the Washington Commanders. It’s not a surprise that Driskel hasn’t signed with a new team, especially with guys like Carson Wentz and Tyler Huntley still on the open market.
However, the former Texans signal caller’s market might’ve gotten smaller after veteran Logan Woodside signed a one-year deal with the Cincinnati Bengals on Wednesday.

Woodside, who is only 30 years old, will be classified as a fifth-year player by Cincinnati, despite being taken in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the Bengals. Woodside has only appeared in 13 games, while Driskel has played 25 games over his seven-year NFL career.
The 31-year-old Driskel spent the 2024 season with the Commanders after spending the 2023 campaign with the Cleveland Browns and Arizona Cardinals. Driskel didn’t play in any games with the Cardinals, but he saw some playing time with the Browns.
The former 49ers’ draft pick started in Cleveland’s Week 18 game against the Bengals, where he completed 50 percent of his passes for 166 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. He also had 33 rushing yards on seven carries in his lone start of the 2023 campaign.
Texans fans vaguely remember Driskel’s time in H-Town, as he was with the organization for two years. In 2021, Driskel appeared in one game, but the next season (2022), he appeared in seven games (two starts).
During the 2022 season, the veteran QB made his first start against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 15, as then-head coach Lovie Smith was running a two-QB system towards the end of the year.
Driskel completed 2-of-4 passes for eight yards and added eight rushing yards. In the previous week against the Dallas Cowboys, Driskel saw some time on the field, completing 4-of-6 passes for 38 yards and a touchdown. He also added 36 rushing yards on seven carries.
Overall, for the 2022 season, Driskel completed 70 percent of his passes for 108 yards and a touchdown. He added 75 rushing yards and had a four-yard reception. The former Texan might not be a solid QB2 anymore, but he could provide some value as an experienced QB3, who can be valuable on a practice squad.
